Has our insatiable desire to consume music in a virtual environment altered the overall value of our real life musical experiences?

‘Let the format amplify the experience’

Created for my final independent project at university, this short film explores the relationship between physical formats, celebrating the tangible experience of playing and owning vinyl records.

The audio is sampled from the actual process of using the equipment involved and looped into a rhythm. The composition slowly builds as the original sounds are layered, the patterns becoming more complex. Analogue synthesisers were recorded to add warmth, texture and depth, as the tune develops.
